Tamarind Room began with a memory.
I grew up in India, and some of my most vivid childhood memories take me back to my grandmom’s home. I remember the warmth of the rooms, dark wood ceilings, almost the color of tamarind, beautiful old furniture, printed fabrics, and familiar things that seemed to have always been there. It was a little moody, incredibly cozy, and simply felt like home!
Tamarind trees grew in her backyard, and I remember picking the fruit straight from the trees. Somehow those memories have always belonged together for me, the richness of tamarind, the warmth of those rooms, and that feeling of home.
At its heart, this brand is about creating pieces that bring some of that same warmth into a home, pieces to live with and one day be part of your treasured memories.
What We Do
Tamarind Room creates textiles rooted in the extraordinary craft traditions of India, reimagined for the way we live today.
We work with skilled makers and small workshops, drawing on techniques like hand block printing, that have been practiced and refined over generations. From the first pattern and color combination to the final details, each collection is developed with a love for the slight unexpectedness that makes something made by hand feel so special.
Our collections are designed to be mixed freely, florals with stripes, small prints with larger patterns, quieter pieces alongside something unexpected.
About Ryia
I grew up in India surrounded by color, pattern and textiles, and I don’t think I realized how much of that stayed with me until I began creating homes of my own.
I have always loved putting together things that weren’t necessarily meant to go together, mixing prints, playing with color and finding combinations that somehow just worked. Years ago in India, a friend and I started a small clothing brand together, and even then, my favorite part was playing with textiles and finding unexpected ways to mix patterns.
That instinct never really left me.
Over the years, it found its way into the homes I decorated, the things I collected and eventually into Tamarind Room. This brand feels like a coming together of so many things I have always loved, interiors, textiles, India, color, and the joy of making a home feel deeply personal.
